Public Safety in Alaska
September 29, 2017
Dear friends and neighbors,
As we prepare for the Governor’s special session we are much aware of the growing concern and anger about crime. While many people blame SB91, I suspect most folks would agree that if it were repealed entirely, the petty crime, thefts, shoplifting and vandalism would likely continue unabated. That being said, there are some fixes which are needed and welcome. I think many of you will be interested in an upcoming hearing sponsored by the House Majority. Details here:
WHEN: Thursday, October 5, 1:00 p.m. until approximately 5:00 p.m.
WHO: Staff with the Legislative Finance Division and the Departments of Public Safety, Administration, Corrections, and Law; and leaders in criminal justice and law enforcement in Alaska.
WHAT: House Finance Budget Subcommittees for the Departments of Public Safety, Administration, Corrections, and Law.
WHERE: Anchorage Legislative Information Office, 1500 W. Benson Blvd., 2nd Floor Conference Room.
Live stream:
Senator Gardner with her granddaughter, Juliette.
Juliette spent the day as a guest page on the Senate floor.
I'm Berta and I'm listening.
